The first signs of day end were skyward where the setting sun was casting the edge glow on the clouds at the horizon. Good thing, too 'cause both Connie and Dave were ready for some good diner chow and the freeway exit was in view. They've come to this place ritualistically whenever coming this way because it's a throwback to the 20th Century Diner, Peggy Sue's, Buckhead Diner and the Red Planet Diner - all gems. No doubt in Dave's mind what he was ordering - the meatloaf here is almost as good as his, minus the broccoli and cheese and Connie always orders fish 'n chips. They split a strawberry shake made with ice cream and were soon back on the road heading for the Best Western Inn with the primo balcony view of the sunset. Dave was just placing the key cards in his pocket when Connie called his attention to the breaking news on the flat screen in the lobby: Ziggy Stardust was getting his own show on Sucret Network. As they walked to the elevator, Dave kidded Connie about the first Ziggy concert they went to in Bellevue and they got to drink Cristal backstage with him. Tonight won't be featuring any Cristal but rather their favorite vigonier that Dave dubbed Ruby Vigonia, hommage to Amos 'N Andy. The sunset was stunning but not nearly as much as Connie. Another day in the life.
