Nadine was told to see her teacher in her new school on the first day of class. She transferred from the last school because her mom got a promotion and a transfer to the central office. Nadine walked into Mrs. Schaefer's classroom and saw a note on her blackboard "Will return shortly". Nadine started to take her seat and then decided to check out the teacher's desk where she saw a seating chart. She hadn't yet met any of the other students so she looked at it intently. Janice - probably named after Janis Joplin. Jacinto - named for the guy who makes taco cheese (he puts the jack into the mix). Modessa - named for her mom's preference in sanitary napkins. Alec- named because they wanted him to become smart. Gino - named because Tony was already taken. Martha - a potential First Lady? Palmer - his Dad's nickname because of his propensity for self-pleasure. Yang Chi - not a Mets fan? Delores - her folks probably never watched Seinfeld. CoraLee - she's shaped like and apple core and her Dad's a Civil War buff. Jake - Charlie Sheen's nephew? Jesus - too easy. DaNardo - is his middle name LeNicci? Nadine heard the door open and Mrs. Schaefer apologized but Nadine answered "That's OK - I got to know something about the other classmates".
