Sitting around trying to recall the very first miracle I performed. It's not like the successors blot out recalling which one was first because it just hit me - I never performed any miracles. Rats. You get all the way to Medicare and still haven't performed that miracle yet. So maybe a better place to start is the very first movie I made. Well, not a movie as in Paramount but a movie yes and it's still available, score by Prokofiev. I'm working on one now (conceptually) where this couple decides to surprise old friends with an unannounced visit but in confirming their address they discover the friends moved to an abandoned store in Amargosa. They decide to make the visit anyway and when they pull up, the store has been facelifted and inside is a studio/penthouse/ gallery featuring originals done in egg tempera and oils. Maggie greets us and shows she defied ageing. David almost breaks our ribs with his jubilant greeting. We stay the night, it eventually extends beyond a month, they both eventually pass away and we take over the place and become cartoon characters a la Linklater's Waking Life. Still needs more meat but there's no deadline so it remains something to come back to. I found joy in the most obvious place (hint: Simmons) and thanks to Who Knows my girl is coming back to me replete with mojo. Stay - just a little bit longer.
