NEW YEAR

Eddie married Brenda way too early. They were a cool couple, Eddie was always cracking jokes and Brenda always showed up in full make up showing a lot of leg and some cleavage. Problem was that Eddie liked the ladies which is a euphemism for sex addict. Sadly, even cool couples can't survive vow trashing and Eddie took the high road and packed his things, left the apartment to Brenda and took off for Leon's Palace of Pudendum. Leon was Eddie's best man in absentia because of his deployment in Plaiku but he always tried to convince Eddie that marriage is just a man's pledge to never bang a strange woman ever again. The pairing of Eddie at Leon's was doomed from the start. Leon had strange taste in women , like the one with chin whiskers that liked to show Eddie her third nipple. Eddie liked girlie girls like Brenda always was. The purple streaked hair, the nipple rings, the ass tats so in vogue now always made Eddie think mattress actress. But Leon's apartment was always a cavalcade of crazy cooter. One morning Eddie was enjoying coffee at Flo's Diner and the TV had the World Cup showing with the sound muted and his cup nearly bounced off the counter from the woman in red shorts with white piping yodeling, yelling, making loud noises jumping in the air. "GOAL!" the screen showed and when the moment passed, the lovely lass put her arm on Eddie's shoulder apologizing and offering to buy him another coffee. Ed agreed but only if she'd join him and the ensuing conversation revealed she was from Namibia, she was a singer in a band and yes, she would love it if Eddie could come see her Friday night at the Palomar. Eddie liked everything about her, her name - Luana, her face - you get the picture. Friday took weeks to arrive but Eddie got to the Palomar early to get a spot near the stage and he wasn't disappointed. Luana commanded the mike like Pat Benetar except for a tambourine instead of a guitar. She found him waiting after the concert and Eddie greeted her with a kiss, not the kind of kiss that says "congratulations" but more like let's find a room.
