NEW YEAR

What is the trade-in value for your life? Is there a Kelly Blue Book to give you an idea what it would be worth if you traded your life for another? The song says "always look on the bright side of life" but what if that bright side was really more than another side of the street, requiring you to trade in where you are for a new life? OK, it doesn't mean new face, new body, new identity like reincarnation or Freaky Friday dogdirt. More like restarting, reinventing yourself - not so much about where you leaped from but more about where you land. You cannot petition the Kelly Book . . . But what you can do is know yourself well enough to take the trade regardless of any psychological spreadsheet and be correct. That's the key - be right. It's not one of those "boy did I screw up" change things - you'd better be right. And when you're right, it doesn't matter if the trade was reasonable - perfection is hard to improve upon. The astonishing thing is when you recall past life, it really seems like looking in on someone other than yourself. Who was that masked man? Yeah, you know it's you but whatever was running through your mind back then seems Spock-like contrasted with now. Entertainment featuring cheating now shows trashing trust to be as horrible as cheating really is. Describing fun and adventure as acceptable labels on activities really about maybe finding a new live-wire seems moronic and idiotic. Spoken from a place where pleasures are simple by the nature of effort required, the new person pairs up perfectly, effortlessly and fabulously. Beam me up before I go-go.
