The Huffpo article was titled something about addicted to love and the comments revealed it was read just like any other "more taste, less filling" assumption. Of course I went immediately to the Robert Palmer a dick with a glove joke, but all the talk about interdependence vs. co-dependence and therapy can't change your mind but can only change how you see things was linguini for this gourmand of love. It's true if everything excessive can labeled addiction then everything is excusable, but there also is a place for repetitive inexcusable behavior as something more than boorish or shitbird stuff, too. To evolve from an extended period of married but living as a bachelor when it comes to the ladies seems like overcoming an addiction. That might not be the same as addictive relating but both appear to have a basis in the illusion of love. If you think it's love than maybe it is until you experience love without edges for the first time. Then you realize how silly but destructive it was to fall in love with every red sweater that came through the door. But is honest-to-God love ever able to become an addiction? Not in any way IMHO. The clarity that comes from devotion to the realm you find yourself in where love has brought you seems similar to the clarity of meditation and harmonic convergence with the collective consciousness (see Deepak). The elimination of seeing only pockets when presented to saints (see Ferlinghetti) as your default response is just one benefit of the cure of love. Like therapy, you're reconditioned but never perfected which matters not if you embrace the gratitude every single day. All the way, it's the only way..
